There is no other room like it in Nevada City. Possibly in Northern California.
The Sherwood Forest Room — sometimes called the Tree Room by regulars — is a mystical installation of tree and trellis, built by local Nevada City artists and lit entirely by fiber optics. The effect is unlike anything a photograph can capture: a warm, living glow that shifts and breathes and makes the space feel like it exists slightly outside of time.
It didn't always exist. Before the 2002 fire, Sherwood Restaurant & Bar was a different space — beautiful in its way, but shaped by the original 1973 build. When Greg and Rona Cook rebuilt from the ashes, they made a decision: this time, the room would have something truly unique to it.
Local artists were brought in. Months of work followed. The result is what you see now — a room that private event guests consistently describe as the most surprising, most beautiful space they've ever held a dinner in.
Friar Society Concierge members have monthly access to the Sherwood Forest Room for private gatherings of 20 or more. For everyone else, it's available for private event bookings.
Come see it. There's nothing else like it.
